Chalcocites from Flambeau constitute a classic USA find. This mine produced briefly in the late 1990s and then was shut down and reclaimed. Today these Chalcocites remain among the most desired of USA metallic species, and are among the most rare due to that short mining window. This is a choice cluster of intergrown, flat crystals that creates a plate with a marvelous, intricate set of stepped faces. These crystal faces have classic, as well as a hypnotic, detailed iridescence that is more obvious in person. An excellent, aesthetic miniature. The tall, upright aesthetics of this "wing" shaped specimen really make it stand out from the others found, and in any case few good ones are on the market any more.
