This is a full size and classic thumbnail silver from the king of silver mines in Kongsberg, Norway. Two thick wires beautifully weave together like a pair of figure skaters. The wires have an excellent patina and perch perfectly on a crystal of calcite. Aesthetic and good Kongsberg pieces such as this are very hard to find - and this is competitive for an example of the wire style of silver in this size range. The calcite matrix makes it ! How old is this? we are unsure,although most date from the 1800s and early 1900s.
