Sometimes you simply have to appreciate what you've got. This thumbnail cluster of subhedral Acanthite crystals is gray-black in color with a matte to metallic luster. The surfaces appear etched or partially complete, with small vesicles throughout. What actually makes this fascinating is that every photo I can find of Acanthite from Wolfach shows the Acanthite as micro needles, with none anywhere close to this size. While that isn't a guarantee, that certainly creates a certain amount of interest, with a hint that this may indeed be exceptional for the locality. From an old collection, and without old labels, one can only believe what is passed on about such rare provenance. It certainly LOOKS unusual.
