This is a large and gorgeous specimen from Brazil. There is a complete, multiply-terminated, silky calcite crystal sitting right on a cluster of gemmy, glassy amethyst crystals. The calcite measures over 10 cm, and the specimen was trimmed out very carefully around it, so you have this wonderful balance between the calcite and the amethyst. The calcite has this wonderful creamy, silky luster, and is translucent, a light golden color which does not come through in the pics; it contrasts nicely with the glassy amethyst. This was very likely an amethyst geode, and the geode was cut and trimmed out to create this dazzling specimen that highlights the calcite.
