Complete sixlings of twinned chrysoberyl from any pegmatite are extremely rare and therefore are priced accordingly. Not so for this twinned, translucent and lustrous sixling from Sri Lanka which exhibits an unusual gray-tan-green color. I personally think the rarity of crystal form alone makes this a competition miniature which is clearly not priced up for its unusual locality beyond its intrinsic value. This is a remarkable alluvial crystal that, despite its origins, retains sharp form. The State Gem Corp. of Sri Lanka said at the time that this specimen and a larger one at 114 cts, were the largest found in recent years.
