Although this garnet locality has been productive, there are few enough specimens with the gorgeous balanced look of this piece, combined with high quality garnets. An intergrown mound of glassy and gemmy, bright orange spessartine crystals, to 1 5 cm across (LARGE for this locality!) is enhanced by two lustrous and translucent, light smoky quartz crystals to 3 cm in length. Definitely a notch above most other Tongbei spessartine and quartz specimens especially due to the enhanced luster and crystal size of the garnets, this is competitive quality in its size range. This is from the personal collection built by dealer Ken Roberts during his decades of travel to China. It is lustrous and translucent and just "special" compared to any other style from here, even more than the photos convey. He is known for his superb eye for minerals!
