This one threw me for a loop and I had to ask...it has been analyzed, by the way, to confirm it. It is an honest-to-god, bizarrely-crystallized samarskite from San Diego. It is the only one I know of, and is in form unlike any other samarskite I have seen. Leo was a major San Diego area collector, known for his breadth of local specimens.
