Liroconite

Liroconite was discovered at this locality in 1825 and, after another dozen years or so, liroconite in this quality was never to be found again. Obviously it remains one of the Holy Grails of both rarities and UK collectors, and they are seldom seen on the market. This specimen is composed of nearly solid liroconite and chalcophyllite, massive, on which is perched a shockingly isolated and well-formed 7 mm crystal of liroconite. It is solidly connected to the matrix in back, but from the front appears to float off a projection of the host matrix. 3.75 x 2.75 x 1.6 cm
