Haddam, Connecticut is a historic, important US locality and display-worthy specimens of cordierite from here are very rare and are rarely available. This specimen is typical to my eye of Newfoundland material for color, a shimmering iridescence of purplish-grayish-greenish, and composed of micaceous crystal plates layered one against the other. Comes with an old, faded, Wards label with a Grieger attribution. John Grieger was a well-known California dealer and collector prior to World War II. Ex. Mullane Collection.
