A classic, doubly terminated, mostly colorless sapphire from Sri Lanka. This gemmy and lustrous crystal has textbook hexagonal form, is well-striated and has excellent, typically pronounced, stepped-growth faces. The termination areas are much gemmier, have a pretty purple tint, than the translucent, included, central portion of the crystal. Pristine and highly representative from the famous deposits at Ratnapura. Complete-all-around and pristine. Weighs 37.59 carats or 7.5 grams. Ex. Wes Parker Collection.
