Tongbei is famous for its Spessartine & Smoky Quartz combinations of contrasting color and shape. This striking pair of doubly-terminated Smoky Quartz crystals, fully "clothed" on all sides with Spessartines, live up to that standard. These burnt-orange Garnets are gemmy and lustrous, and many have the striations that Tongbei Spessartines are recognized for. 7 mm across is the size of the largest Garnet, but the majority are in the 1-3 mm range, all being equally lustrous and gemmy. Complete-all-around and pristine, this doubly-terminated floater is an unusually fine example for the size range. From the heyday here, mid-2000s to 2010 ,probably.
