Azurite
A 2.3-cm-long, rare, doubly-terminated azurite hanging nicely off a pedestal of matrix. Among the thousands of small Tsumeb azurites out there, this is a particularly elegant thumbnail specimen and displays dramatically in an exhibit. From the award-winning thumbnail collection of Sharon and William Panczner, author of the book Minerals Of Mexico, and last seen and exhibited in the 1960s. As Bill related to me (he is in his 80's in retirement now): somewhere there is a Best in Show plaque from the Tucson 1967 show! There were some very special specimens in this exhibit. Charlie Key became a supplier of several of them during this time. There were several Tsumeb Azurites that were the BEST small specimens that Charlie had that were given to Sharon. The TN's were what made Sharon become interested in minerals.
