Azurite
What a stunning royal blue Azurite thumbnail from Bisbee! This gorgeous thumbnail actually consists of a divergent fan of thinly bladed crystals that starts out 4 mm wide at the bottom and blossoms out to nearly 2 cm at the top. Although the most vibrant blue all over, it is actually slightly translucent at the bottom and along the side edges! It's a remarkable Bisbee piece from the 1940s or early 1950s, from a single pocket with this unique style! Story has it that the whole pocket remained in a box in storage in a collection, which sold to Donald Olson (dealer) at some point years ago. Don then dispersed them in Southern California and at shows. This was said to be the best of the thumbnails, and was in the Kyle Kevorkian collection until exchanged out recently.
