Twinned Fluorite and Sphalerite With Hydrocarbon Inclusions
This piece has to be seen in person - the details of it are so subtle and hard to capture in a photo. Not only are gemmy yellows and penetration twins from this area rare, but the sheer quality of the Fluorites makes this an outstanding specimen. The yellow Fluorites have incredible luster, interesting zoning, and are super-gemmy. The outer phantom zone of the largest, 2.4 cm Fluorite ranges from a gemmy, clear light blue to a bluish purple. There is a rare, tiny, intricate corner modification on the tip of the largest (trisoctahedral face). The effect is attractive but hard to capture in the photos. The luster and sharpness of the Fluorites is simply the best, and they are nestled among lustrous, large Sphalerite crystals to 3 cm. As a final bonus, note the squiggling, elongated inclusions of hydrocarbons (petroleum) inside. Overall, this is an excellent quality specimen with totally unique aesthetics, and best seen in person if it interests you. Mined 1991.
