Description
Hauyne is a rare member of the Sodalite group, usually formed in low-silica igneous rocks such as lava flows. This fine thumbnail is highlighted by a well-placed, 1.1 cm crystal that has a beautiful grey-blue color and is translucent to gemmy. The Hauyne crystal is exposed perfectly on the scoria matrix. Hauyne was named in honor of the famed, 19th-Century crystallographer and mineralogist, Abbe Rene Just Hauy. Fine aesthetics and size for this uncommon and prized silicate. Orange fluorescence is a bonus. Note this is a tremendously important locality from both a cultural and scientific perspective, and specimens like this are few. Acquired by Kay from a collector named Horman in 1976. ILLUSTRATED in the 64-page article on Kay Robertson, in a 2017 issue of MINERALIEN WELT (PDF and hard copy of this article is available on request). The caption on the photo in the article notes that the editor, Rainer Bode, had his own photo on file from going through the collection back in 2008: Gabriela Kay Robertson vor einer ihrer Sammlungsschubladen. Foto R. Bode

Haüyne Sales Data
How this data is collected: Our system continuously monitors mineral listings from authorized dealer partners across the internet. We have explicit permission from all dealers whose listings we track - any dealers who have not provided specific and explicit authorization are NOT listed and NOT tracked by our system. When a previously available listing is marked as sold or removed from sale, we record this as a completed transaction. While we cannot guarantee the exact final sale price (as negotiations may occur), this data represents publicly listed prices for specimens that have transitioned from "for sale" to "sold" status. This provides valuable market insights based on observable listing behavior patterns.
