From the early days of Chinese mineral exports in the early-1990s and even a bit into the late 1980s, this is a "blue rose" azurite cluster. It is totally complete all around, sharp, and has an intense blue color. The combination of color saturation and luster, with more robust individual crystallization visible within the overall radial growth, marks these older specimens as superior to my eye, compared to those from a more recent find which came out to market in the late 1990s and, in a small batch, again around 2007. Ex. Dr. Stephen Smale Collection.
