This is a classic Sweet Home Rhodo with a small attached rhomb and quartz point. The color is an excellent deep red, the luster ranges from frosted to glassy, and there are even gemmy sections within this large crystal. There's not much to say that the pics don't tell you, really. The rear face clearly was the attachment point within the famously narrow crystallized seams of the mine, and is thus a bit rough or "contacted" but it is present in full. With the Sweet Home now closed, opportunities for good rhodos are becoming more and more scarce. This is a large crystal by any standard, and is complete with no repairs. It was mined by Richard Kosnar in the 1970s and by the standards of the day, befor ethe reopening of the Sweet Home in the 90s by Collectors Edge, this would have been an absolute ballbuster. Even today, luster aside, its still pretty darned impressive! 4.8 x 3.9 x 2.2 cm
