These fluorites came out in modest numbers for only a short time, then became scarce and expensive (see recent Min. Record China issue for more on these). It is quite hard now to find nice-looking, undamaged crystals on matrix, and the Chinese dealers value them highly and charge plenty for them. This is a BIG (7.5 cm across the edge), sharp crystal on matrix. In back, you can see how the crystal stopped growing, then restarted; what you see on the surface of the front is actually a half-centimeter overgrowth of the original crystal, making this technically a phantom! This later generation of growth actually formed small octahedrons in the back, on the surface of the original octahedron! The crystal is complete and undamaged all around except for one smallish cleave; very good condition for one of these. 16.9 x 9.4 x 6.9 cm
