Description
This piece is a natural part of the environment the dioptase grows in here, with actually a cavity on each side filled with dioptase. One side you have brilliantly green, sharp crystals to 1 cm in a thin pocket. On the other, more exposed, there is a whopping huge 3 cm crystal (ingrown, but you see most of it!), along with smaller ones. The pocket shows how solutions containing the copper flooded cracks in the rock and when space allowed, dioptase crystallized out of that solution into pockets. Where space didn't allow, you got solid dioptase fillers between the small pockets.
