This is a really fine, complete-all-around specimen of the now-classic Mogok rubellite tourmaline! It is truly an exceptional piece, with the richest maroon color and excellent 3-dimensional form. They are not so common now that there is an embargo on importing from Burma to the US; but more than that they were declining anyhow as specimen mining in the area itself declined, even before the embargo. So, if you do not have one yet, i'd say now is the time to get one and this one is superb by even the standards of a few years back when they were more common (it is out of a collection, and is not a new find) 4.3 x 3.4 x 2.6 cm
