Nambulite
Nambulite is an incredibly scarce species and its very rare to find it in a large cluster such as this and on matrix no less. The cluster is composed of bladed, prismatic, dark pink, interlocking crystals up to an amazing 2.1cm! Crystals that are free of a thin coating of an unknown mineral on this piece exhibit a subadamantine luster. Nambulite is lithium sodium manganese silicate. These nambulite crystal originate from the one time find at the Kombat mine in Namibia in the early 1970s.They are quite literally impossible to obtain on the market in this size, let alone on matrix. Aside from the central gemmy crystal, this is simply a rich specimen anyways - with more nambulite in one place than on any other piece on the market, I would guess. This is an irreplaceable piece. ex F John Barlow collection. He bought the whole pocket at the time (as described in his book, in 1998) and I have not seen another since except for one piece in 2003 that was also Barlow's.
