Super-sharp crystals of Manganite, all on a matrix of lovely and lustrous black, botryoidal Hematite. The manganite crystals, which reach 4 mm, are highly lustrous and tabular. Manganites from the Siegen district are extremely uncommon, to the point that there isn't a single photo in Mindat to date. Even Pyrolusite from Eiserfeld is uncommon, with only two photos on file, one of which is a dead ringer for this fine miniature - so this could perhaps be manganite ps pyrolusite or pyrolusite ps manganite if that is correct. It has not been analyzed, however. #9371 in Kay's collection, she acquired this in 1981.
