Highly lustrous and well-formed, this large cluster of Stibnite is from La Lucette in France. The silvery grey color and bright metallic sheen are classic characteristics for a good Stibnite. It dates from the early to mid 1800's and includes a label from the Comptoir Central d'Histoire Naturelle dated 1912 at the top (presumably a date of purchase), a company that Neree Boubee formed in 1845 (see MINERALOGICAL RECORD: http://minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=216). A classic, to be sure, and seldom seen for sale.
