Wheatley Pyromorphites were prized posessions in any American collection of the late 1800s and early 1900s. In that time frame, it produced what were then the world's best, and the lead from many were even used in the Civil War. Few really good ones survive in private hands at the present time. This fine thumbnail has crystals up to 1.6 cm, with good deep-green color, very good luster, and some nicely developed hoppers. And although the overall specimen is small, it is a well-balanced thumbnail and not just a "small pyro." Also, these individual crystals are large for Wheatley. A choice thumbnail for this classic location. Dr. A.E. Foote label, and also a very old, handwritten label.
