Despite a couple of (unobtrusive lateral) repairs, this huge, DOUBLY-TERMINATED old-timer tourmaline from the Santa Rosa cannot fail to impress! It is doubly terminated, a miracle for the size. The top termination is superbly symmetric. The color goes from bottle green at the bottom, to a light teal, and culminates in a nearly colorless termination with a slight pink to it. The top termination is glassy, with beautiful bevels. (The bottom is the typical flat one). The indentation you see at the edge of the bottom termination is just a natural contact where it grew against another crystal - the bottom termination, like the top, does not have damage. Old specimen from the George Elling tourmaline collection. This whopper is complete all around, and weighs in at 279 grams!
