This is a matrix rhodo from N'Chwaning with unusual bassally-modified stacked crystals forming cityscape clusters on manganese matrix. It is very odd-looking for such a beast, but all the better for that fact in my eye! Many of the truncated scalenohedrons grew together to form rosettes. The luster is just great, as well..very sparkly from just about any angle. Lastly, it is undamaged save for the bare periphery and this is remarkable because so many of the Nchwaning rhodos, after 25 years of handling, show damage; and it is hard to obtain pieces of this quality that do not. 9 x 6 x 3.7 cm
