Collected at some degree of personal risk from small clefts by the intrepid strahlers over there, Hematite "Roses" from the Swiss Alps are one of those old mineral classics that even newbies and laymen can appreciate. The shape is special and interesting at a gut level, and the habit (when as nice as this one) truly evokes the vision of a rose. This choice toenail features a sharp, highly lustrous rosette of Hematite that looks equally good from both sides, with clean and sharp lines that look sculpted. Exemplary aesthetics on a competition level miniature. Old labels included note the piece was in the collection of Richard Barstow.
