Perched high on massive, white quartz are a few crystals, to just under 1 cm in length, of lustrous, slightly translucent, dark emerald green, uvarovite, the chromium rich member of the garnet family. The deposit at Outokumpu, Finland, has produced the world's finest specimens of uvarovite and these are old classics!
