The reason this large cluster of quartz crystals was in the Hauck Collection is that it is just extremely unusual. The reason is that you have 3 different forms of quartz crystal on it. The first are long, slender, "conventional" prismatic crystals. The second are flattened, tabular crystals, growing amongst the prismatic ones. And finally, the specimen is crowned with a fine, transparent, 3-cm Japan-Law twin. Ex. Richard Hauck Collection.
