From the western United States (Utah, to be exact), Red Beryl is certainly among the most recognizable, desirable and rarest of gem mineral species. This doubly-terminated, hexagonal crystal is lustrous, almost completely translucent, partly gemmy, and has superb color. The classic "gooseberry" color crystals have attracted collectors for years, and are now in very short supply. There is some Rhyolite contacting on the back, but it does not affect the presentation view at all. On balance, a superb Red Beryl crystal. Aesthetic and rare. Definitely top tier, as a thumbnail display-quality specimen! This locality is now basically defunct.
