Known for their color, form, and often incredible striations, Tongbei Spessartines are among the best in the world. This attractive toenail brings its own personal history to the table, having started as a Microcline crystal which was pseudomorphed by Muscovite. This, in turn, was coated by gemmy, 4-6 mm, reddish-orange Spessartines that have striking striations. There is some edge wear on a microscale, but it has no impact on the overall aesthetics. The coup de gras is a coating along the base of highly fluorescent Hyalite Opal, which adds to the mineralogical interest, and certainly the aesthetics, when viewed under UV. Overall, a choice, representative Tongbei piece.
