Hexagonite is the very rare manganoan variety of tremolite and is distinguished by its lilac to purple color. It is only found in two counties in New York. Hexagonite was supposedly a hexagonal form of tremolite, but was shown to be monoclinic. That being said, this is an incredibly huge, 10.8 cm long, gemmy and lustrous, lilac hexagonite crystal in a solid large cabinet matrix of smaller hexagonite crystals and needles. There is an impression on the back side, where another fairly large crystal once rested.
