This remarkable, long gem crystal is NOT repaired, unlike nearly every other large Otjua Mine specimen you might see. This came out of the Collectors Edge mining project in the late 1980s, and was sold at the first showing to a local Dallas collector who has owned it since. It features a gently graded color scheme going from blue to green very evenly and dramatically. It is lustrous and almost completely transparent. When backlit, it glows with color - in minimal lighting, it is a bit more sleepy on the brightness but even poor lighting will show the colors. Frankly, I have not seen an Otjua mine piece of anything near this size and quality before, that is unrepaired. Most Otjua mine tourmalines are murky, opaque or nearly so, and red or green but rarely blue. It is, to me, a very important and unique specimen. And, a large one at 13 cm or about 5 inches! 13.3 x 1.3 x 1.2 cm (64 grams)
