Elbaite Tourmaline with rare "gem nodule"
A rare "gem nodule" of naturally gem-clean tourmaline, which forms very rarely attached to larger crystals as an end cap or bottom cap, is present here and displayed on a natural pedestal; beautifully attached to a doubly-terminated, glassy and gemmy, light green elbaite crystal, measuring 5 cm in length, is a terminated gem nodule. This second crystal is artfully connected to the upper portion of the larger crystal at a slight angle. Gem nodules are usually rounded masses of water-clear material that occurs in central portions of flawed crystals. To find one perched on the termination like this is....Spectacular! Ex. Herb Obodda collection. The mass is 30 grams. This was long part of Herb's exhibition of fine Afghani and Pakistani miniatures and thumbnails which he displayed at numerous shows (Springfield, Munich, Tucson) over the years. I have not seen the like, for sale. This is technically a miniature, though a tall one. Comes with custom lucite base.
