Andradite variety Demantoid Garnets from Val Malenco (the Malenco Valley) are some of the most prized Alpine garnet specimens in the world, classics in their own right. This showy specimen has about a dozen Garnets, with the largest being about 1 cm. The best dodecahedron is 6 mm in size, and has good luster and a nice, rich green color. The sculptural matrix, in this case, is fibrous Asbestos. These specimens are very difficult to obtain now, and this is an aesthetic and well-representative specimen.
