This glassy and gemmy zoisite crystal exhibits a beautiful, light forest-green color. It has the same chemical composition as the zoisite var. tanzanite crystals from Merelani, Tanzania but no color shift is known from this locale, and green to brown is the normal hue here. This one has exquisite color for Pakistan, hard to believe. In fact I bought it first in the late 1990s from dealer Francois Lietard after one of his trips to Peshawar, or I would think that this was a green tanzanite from Merelani (Tanzania), myself! It is really a highly unusual gem crystal for Pakistan, and I am not aware of any of this quality which have come since. ex. Dr. Joan Massague collection.
