A very RICH and DRAMATIC LARGE CABINET plate from the famed Wheatley Mine at Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Acicular, grass-green pyromorpite crystals in botryoids or as individual crystals are richly and aesthetically strewn across complimentary iron oxide-coated quartz matrix on this HISTORIC OLD-TIMER. The Phoenixville mines reached their highest production in the 1850s and the district was extinct by 1870! Very minimal bruising on such a large, fine old-timer. Plates of this size and quality are SELDOM on the market. Ex. George Elling Collection.
