A rich, velvety specimen of solid malachite of classic style for this rich Urals mining district, showing good display faces on most sides of the piece. The chatoyance of the velvety malachite is what makes this special, an effect difficult to reproduce in photos as it depends really on moving light and the human eye's reaction to the light moving over such a piece. In person, it really is gorgeous. The velvety sprays of malachite look like avalanche falls, in crevasses, if that makes sense
