A fine cabinet calcite with amethyst specimen from recent finds at Artigas, Uruguay. A wreath of gemmy and lustrous, intensely-purple amethyst crystals attractively circles the front of a large, complete-all-around, calcite scalenohedron. The very glassy, light amber calcite has a tan, low-luster, calcite overgrowth layer, with is visible below the amethyst wreath. Ex. Sinotte Collection.
