1.1 x 1.0 x 0.9 cm (Specimen); 4.81 carats; 8.91 mm x 6.87 mm (Gem) - Pyrargyrite is not the first thing that one thinks of when it comes to rough and cut sets, but we've gone an interesting pair here. The stone is actually from South Africa (probably Ehlanzeni), and is cut into an "Oval" cabochon. The crystal is from Fresnillo, Mexico and is actually a fine little trigonal group with HIGH metallic luster and beautiful crystallization, and an intense deep blood red hue is seen when strongly backlit. The cabochon shows the same strong red hue when backlit, even though it came from the other side of the planet from its crystal counterpart.
