Hematite from Italy is one of the great classics of old Europe. This is a historic and attractive piece from the iron mines of the island of Elba, Italy. A ring of big and bright Pyrite crystals surround a central core of sparkling specular Hematite. The pyritohedrons have mirror-like metallic luster and are intergrown with one another around the piece with one Pyrite measuring 3.3cm on edge. The Hematite in the center is specular variety and is composed of a myriad of Hematite plates and blades in random orientation to form a complex, shimmering aggregate. Stands nicely on its own and very unique! Old browned label accompanies.
