A HISTORIC, OLD-TIME boleite cube from the Larry Conklin Collection. A lustrous, 8 mm, indigo-blue boleite cube lies within a cotton-lined and corked test tube. Two sides and an edge of the boleite are partially contacted on the back, but are not a detraction. The crystal comes with a French Foote Mineral Company label, which dates from 1900 to 1904, when they had a Paris office. This suggests that Foote obtained the specimen for one of his customers (presumably a special one!) from Eduard Cumenge who would have only a few years earlier returned with his finds to the Sorbonne for study and to deposit them in the collections there. A well-documented, CLASSIC, old-timer, when the famous mines at Boleo were active and operated by the French.
