An aesthetic and classic tripod cluster of metallic-bright, gray stibnite blades from Romania. The 3-dimensional stibnite blades remind me of New York City skyscrapers, with the Empire State Building in the middle. The blades reach 3.8 cm and there is remarkably very little damage to this fine piece, along the periphery and just a couple of broken blades in the interior, very hard to see. The bit of calcite is a nice accent. Romanian stibnites were considered the epitome of stibnites, along with classic, old Japan stibnites and were fairly common from the 1970s to mid-1980s, just as Chinese stibnites are now. Ex. Karl Warning Collection, who purchased this fine piece at the New Jersey home of well-known mineral dealer, Herb Obodda, in September, 1985, just after his return from a European trip.
