This spessartine is a rarity on the market now, from the El Alamo locality down in Baja California (Mexico). It measures 1.8 cm across, and has the characteristic crackly surface that gives it a pinkish appearance at a distance, though in fact it is a dark red. Ex. Bill Larson Collection.
