Depending on how you view it, this extremely unusual large plate of quartz crystals specimen is either attractive, or really ugly! The very sharp crystals have a mineral coating (apparently a very dark iron oxide mineral) that gives them the color of dark chocolate; it is an ultra-micro coating, so the surfaces are very smooth, except for a sprinkling of little sulfide crystals that grew on the faces. Ex. Richard Hauck Collection.
