The Cruzeiro mine, in Minas Gerais, Brazil, is one of the most prolific gemstone producing localities in the country, if not the world! In 2012, a small find of raspberry-red gem tourmaline specimens were recovered from the mine - a unique color for the locality, which has yet to be reproduced in the years since. This fabulous thumbnail example illustrates the rich color saturation that made this discovery so exciting! The crystal is a lighter, magenta-hued shade at its base, darkening to a deeper red toward the tip, yet maintaining gem quality translucency throughout. A wonderful example of this one-time find! 3 grams mass.
