Aesthetically perched high on a matrix of crystalline, white albite is a large, well formed, lustrous and partially translucent, reddish orange crystal, measuring 2.5 cm across. When backlit the gemmy highlights are exposed. This is a superbly crystallized and large garnet from the locale. Like many of this size, it shows incipient cracking lines, but in this case they are really trivial and the crystal has not started to crack and separate. So, it is very sharp for the size here. It is complete all around 360 degrees except for only a small tiny contact on one back corner. This crystal is like something out of a textbook, just perched nice and high on matrix!
