Gem azurites have always been very desirable, with the very best coming from Concepcion del Oro, Mexico; Touissit, Morocco; and Tsumeb. This showy and excellent specimen from Touissit features partially gemmy, lustrous, blue azurite crystals scattered about on the sturdy, sculptural gossan matrix. The large, isolated crystal is 2.2 cm and the malachite is a very nice accent. The primary azurites are in good shape. This is an excellent representation of the gemmy Touissit azurites. Specimens of this quality came out in the 1980s or 1990s.
