A classic Brazilian watermelon Tourmaline crystal from old production at the Pederneira Mine (1980s or previous). This lovely 22-gram crystal is mostly transparent to slightly translucent with a vivid pink core and a medium green exterior. Its glassy with lightly striated faces and a flat, lustrous pinacoid termination. The pink "phantom" at the interior has distinct vertical boundaries and a less distinguishable horizontal one with respect to the gem green termination. There is only minor chatter on the edges, two very shallow dings at the termination and so it is essentially pristine to the eye at first glance although it could be improved at the lab if desired. A rare and well colored piece from the private collection of a multigenerational Brazilian gemstone dealer family, which will be disclosed to the buyer.
