Brazilian Phenakites were long considered the world's best, and this old locality produced during the 1940s & 1950s although this specimen seems to date back further, judging from the labels to Krantz and the Museum of Naples. This attractive competition-quality miniature is actually a cluster of gemmy Phenakites, all sharp and shiny, with high luster and good form. In fact, many are intergrown in such a way that the floral pattern much resembles a sixling twin. The largest crystal is 1.6 cm across. Save for a small little contact on the underside, this cluster is complete all around - basically, it is a floater specimen. This is therefore, overall, a notable cluster of this rare gem species, and it is even better in person! An old classic of a desirable gem species.
